Locations

Namibia is divided into 14 regions. These regions include: Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Kunene, Kavango East, Kavango West, Caprivi, Erongo, Otjozondojupa, Omaheke, Khomas, Hardap and Karas.

Namibia offers idyllic tropical and desert locations that are incomparable. The most spectacular landscapes for filmmakers can be found in the Namib Desert and surrounding areas. Namibia  is scarcely populated, making it unique for film production; where one can travel 10km to the surrounding areas of a major city or town, and feel as if  you are in the middle of nowhere. Directors such as George Miller, Roland Emmerich, Michael Bay, John Moore, Alex Kurtzman, to name but a few, have used Namibia as a backdrop for their feature films. Namibian landscapes are unique and mesmerizing; here is where Mother Nature easily transforms herself into the leading actress in your production.

Below are a few simple descriptions of what is on offer:

  • sheer mountains and rocky outcrops
  • sandy beaches with golden and volcanic coloured sand
  • endless belts of dunes and deserts
  •  bounteous wild-life, bird-life and fishing options
  •  long and winding roads through changing landscapes
  • sun-drenched savannah with freely roaming wildlife
  • forests of trees – from “petrified” to “lush”
  •  scenic lakes, rivers and oases
  • abandoned ghost towns

Please note that we have not listed, or featured, all the filming locations available in Namibia, as it will be impossible to present all the locations on a single website. Therefore, do not hesitate to contact us for more location references.
